1st Grade Field Trip to the Zoo

On Wednesday I was able to go on Christopher's field trip to the National Zoo as a chaperone. It was a beautiful day, we couldn't have asked for better weather. In my group, I had 5 very active 1st grade boys. I am glad to be the mother of Christopher. I think I would go crazy if some of those other boys were mine. This was my first field trip where I wasn't able to sit next to my son on the bus. I had to sit in a special emergency exit seat with another teacher. I enjoyed visiting with Mrs. Thompson. She is an assistant teacher who works in the classroom. She spoke very highly of Christopher.

Once we were at the Zoo I was paired up with another chaperone who brought her kindergarten along. Christopher is actually really good friends with her son, Phillip. They have had several play dates this school year. We walked all over the zoo seeing the lions, tigers, monkeys, panda bears, elephants, snakes, alligators and hippos. We stopped and had lunch on some benches. As we were eating lunch the orangutans crossed the high ropes that lead from one exhibit to another. The boys got a kick out of watching them hang and swing from the ropes.

The day went quick, but I enjoyed spending some time with Christopher.
